The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has accepted the graduation of else candidates in its examination for non-public applicants.
WAEC Registrar, Dr Iyi Uwadiae, confirmed this at a NEWS conference in Lagos on Thursday.
Uwadiae explained that this changed into to remedy the difficulty of perceived discrimination or denial of same opportunity to non-public applicants.
“WAEC conducts its West African Senior School Certificate examination (WASSCE) two times per year, May/June for school candidates and in November/December for personal candidates.
“The council also conducts diverse national examinations in the member countries except Nigeria.
“Now, the candidates who want to retake the exam generally have the opportunity of doing so with the private applicants’ exam.
“With this improvement, there was a wave of agitation, criticisms and enchantment throughout the sub-place for the council to ameliorate the pain of lengthy waiting experience by private candidates who desire another attempt at WASSCE,” he said.

“however allow me also assure stakeholders in Nigeria that the Nigeria National office has indicated its willingness and readiness to blaze the path by making the exam to be had to Nigerians in 2018.
“Details of the scheduled dates, available subjects, location of centres and their information would be provided by the Head of Nigeria national office at the appropriate time,” Uwadiae assured.
